Studio Tour with Rachel Hazell - October 2022

Meet Rachel Hazell, aka The Travelling Bookbinder at her island home on the West Coast of Scotland, UK. Rachel is a teacher and book artist who believes everyone has a book inside them. She’s been taking people on creative journeys for over twenty years, online and in person – from Amsterdam to Antarctica, Paris to Edinburgh. Rachel will show you where she works on the Isle of Iona, surrounded by books, paper, thread and ink, with a view out to the ocean. Before taking you right down to the beach. and the byre (old cow barn) where there’s space to be messy.

She’ll demonstrate a beautifully simple ribbon binding, from her book Bound. (Available round the world, reprinted three times!) There’ll be much discussion about favourite tools and materials, creative habits and whether stationery addiction is a thing. With the chance to ask questions, satisfy your curiosity about island life and hear about the new MapLove e-course you’ll be wanting to head off on inspiring journeys of your own.
